INDONESIA

Indonesia is undergoing a massive economic boom, attracting huge foreign investments. Intellectual Property is a key aspect of FDI, and many companies have run aground by failing to properly plan IP aspects of their investments.   Through case studies (taken from actual experience), the presenter will introduce different aspects of intellectual property protection, common issues in dealing with local pirates and strategy options.

INDIA
India is one of the key emerging economies with GDP growth rate of 8% in last two years. The growing middleclass offers remarkable opportunities to IP owners and at the same time challenges to protect their IP. The challenges emanate not only from local production but also growing import of goods from China and other Asian countries. Through case studies the presenter will share his experience of dealing with IP issues- working with courts and Intellectual Property office. The presenter will also highlight the practical realities and local factors that will influence your investment decision and IP strategy.

THAILAND
With many IP specialized agencies and authorities, Thailand is, on the face of it, very well equipped to address issues ranging from protection to enforcement of IPRs. Surprisingly, IPRs holders face real challenges in obtaining best results from working with those agencies. Political instability, increasing manufacturing costs, local innovation and state of the art R&D centers mushrooming in Thailand combined with AEC’s opportunities push companies to design new strategies for Thailand. Through case studies and statistics, the presenter will introduce innovative strategies for managing brands and technologies.

MYANMAR
The emerging and vibrant market of Myanmar is increasingly considered as strategically important and presents numerous opportunities in many areas. The IP filing system is partly functional, while recordation of technology transfers, negotiating licensing agreements and conducting litigation remain somehow challenging. Through case studies and updated information on the legal system, the presenter will discuss strategies and recommendations for protecting, licensing and defending brands and technologies.
