Advanced Negotiation Skills Workshop (Half-day for each session)

Date: 9 and 23 July 2015
Time: 9.00am - 12.30pm
Venue: Intellioffices, Level 3, 146 Robinson Road, Singapore 068909
Speakers: Jonathan Yuen - Partner in the Commercial Litigation Practice group of Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP

Overview of Workshop

The first half-day advanced negotiation skills workshop is designed for participants who are looking to gain extra value, confidence and control in their next negotiation. It will take participants’ existing negotiation skills to a higher level and hone their skills to a sharper edge. Participants should be familiar with the basic concepts of interest-based negotiation, but new participants need not worry as the Workshop will start off with an “introduction” segment to bring everyone up to speed.

The second half-day advanced negotiation skills workshop will show participants how to identify and overcome unethical and hard-ball negotiators and their tactics to achieve winning outcomes, to move from being reactive to being proactive so as to seize the initiative to expand value generation and to reduce undesirable consequences. Participants will also be exposed to the added negotiation complexities of a commercial dispute and of navigating conflicting internal and external interests.

Benefits to participants:

You will learn how to:

  1. Strengthen your understanding and employment of the Harvard interest based negotiation framework
  2. Seize the initiative in negotiations and set your own negotiation tempo
  3. Employ agenda setting as a means of controlling the negotiation
  4. Manage unreasonable expectations through legitimacy and expectation testing
  5. Learn how to use trade-offs to maximise value in the negotiation
  6. Counter bullying, unfair, unethical and hard-ball counter-parties in a negotiation
  7. Reframe issues to maximize your leverage
  8. De-escalate contentious situations
  9. Navigate internal stakeholder interests

NOTE: You can register for the 1st session or both sessions but not session 2 only.
